The Vernon Greenways Volunteers, in association with the Hockanum River Linear Park committee (HRLP, a subcommittee of
Vernon Parks and Recreation), assist in the maintenance, enhancement and proper use of the 30+ miles of trails in Vernon,
CT; including 3 trails along the Hockanum* River. These volunteers and other civic organizations have worked to preserve
the scenic woodlands, wetlands and wildlife on the river and to provide hiking trails for public recreation.
For information on the Hockanum River trails maintained by the Volunteers and the HRLP, click on the appropriate Trail
Link or on the colored segment itself on the Town of Vernon map.
Please note: The Franklin Street Trail starts in Vernon and proceeds north into Ellington. Since the Trail is defined
as an "Ellington" trail (only about 850 feet of its 1-mile length are in Vernon), clicking on this will link you to the
Ellington Franklin Street trail description.
